Hippocampus is an online educational platform offering free multimedia content such as videos, animations, and simulations. These resources are designed for middle-school students all the way through to college students. The platform is managed by National Repository of Online Courses also known as the NROC Project.
Instructors can access the HippoCampus dashboard by logging into their MySJRstate portal, clicking on the Faculty link, and then, clicking on the HippoCampus link in Faculty Quick Links.
The platform offers content for several subject areas including math, science, history, and social science, and the content is provided by academic resources such as Khan Academy and other highly respected academic institutions.
On the HippocCampus homepage, instructors can browse based on Subjects and Collections.
After a Subject is clicked or a Collection has been clicked, instructors will have the option to find a specific video, preview the video, and then share the video with a sharable link. The link can be embedded in a Canvas course via a link in a Canvas Page or Canvas Module.
While instructors can share content from HippoCampus without creating an account, additional feature care available to instructors if they do create an account. Instructors can create an account from the HippoCampus homepage by clicking on the Log in button.
