In the fall of 2019, SJR State’s College initiative, Vikings Days of Service, was launched. With this initiative, SJR State made a commitment to provide members of our campus community with two opportunities each year to engage and serve within our three counties.
The purpose of the Vikings Days of Service initiative is to:
Every year, Vikings will Fall into Service in November and Spring into Service in March.
St. Johns River State College welcomes service project proposals from organizations and agencies operating within the College’s service district of Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns Counties. Such entities may include chambers of commerce; charitable organizations; civic organizations; cultural centers (libraries, museums, parks); educational organizations; faith-based organizations; healthcare organizations (hospitals, hospices, community health centers); and other service organizations. If your project is accepted for inclusion, SJR State will solicit volunteers to provide service hours on one of the Vikings Days of Service.
Service project proposals are accepted all year. For a service project to be considered for a Fall into Service or Spring into Service event, proposals must be submitted at least 3 weeks before the day of the event so there is adequate time to promote the project and recruit volunteers.
Help us spend the word about our Vikings Days of Service! sjrstate.edu/vikings-service is the public-facing web site that provides the SJR State community with information about this initiative. If you know of an agency that would like to submit a proposal for a Day of Service project or if someone would like to volunteer for a service project, please direct them here!
