Given the broad availability of generative AI tools as well as the integration of AI tools of all kinds into the programs and resources routinely used by students, faculty, and staff, the AI Task Force is being formed to:
To explore the use and applications of AI in higher education.
To identify the most critical issues and opportunities posed to students, faculty and staff by AI.
To position ourselves to leverage AI responsibly, ethically, and transparently.
Launching in the 24/25 academic year, the AI Task Force will be multi-disciplinary in nature and will consist of two Work Groups: Approaches to AI in the Classroom and Approaches to AI in College Operations. After guided explorations, the work of the AI Task Force may include focus groups, surveys, test cases, and pilot projects. The Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Academic Officer and the AVP for Learning Culture & Innovation will coordinate these efforts in consultation with executive, academic, and operational leadership. The AVP for Learning Culture & Innovation will serve as a convener and liaison for both Work Groups within the AI Task Force.
Task Force members are not required to have any working knowledge of AI in order to participate in this initiative. Task Force members will be provided training prior to the work of the Task Force commencing.
