Understanding Complex Text and Topics Using Graphic Novels

Understanding Complex Text and Topics Using Graphic Novels

Many powerful messages can be created with words. Powerful messages can also be conveyed with pictures. What happens when both are used in unison? A lasting, powerful, learning experience. Join us as we explore the rise of the graphic novel, and how it uses words and pictures to elicit a powerful experience that can enhance understanding, especially in complex subjects. Such subjects we will touch on range from the Holocaust, to human conflict and sexuality. At the end of the session, you will have a basic understanding of the concept of the graphic novel. You will also learn how to use and access our online library to seek out your own books to either enhance student understanding/engagement or your own!
