Cultivating Attention: Strategies for Overcoming Student Distraction

Cultivating Attention: Strategies for Overcoming Student Distraction

With instruction increasingly delivered virtually, what strategies can instructors use to engage students when distractions are just a mouse click away? This session will analyze how easily we become distracted in this social-distanced world of online learning and Zoom lectures. Rather than trying (and failing) to prevent distraction, participants will learn strategies to "cultivate attention," promote student presence and engagement, and active learning tools to help students succeed academically. Participants will leave the session with a toolkit of options to create a more attention-filled environment for their students.
